            Meet Dr. Stromness

Picture
As an optometric physician Dr. Lynn Stromness has served Sandy and south valley residents for over two decades.

Dr. Stromness was born and raised in Kearns, Utah, completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah.  He received his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of California at Berkley.  His clinical training included the Meredith Morgan Eye Clinic In Berkley, California, along with the San Francisco VA Hospital and Letterman Army Hospital.

Upon completion of his internship training, he began his career in private optometry practice in Utah in 1990.

He is a diplomate of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association.  He also maintains membership in the Utah Optometric Association, and has served on the board of trustees.
Dr. Stromness enjoys the continuity that private practice provides with his patients.  It allows him to monitor on an ongoing basis the health of his patients and the impact of how systemic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and many others can impact eye health and quality of life.

He especially enjoys working with younger children and has the ability to help them feel comfortable during the eye exam process.  Dr. Stromness is innovative in addressing complicated vision issues, often taking the time necessary to investigate state-of-the-art treatment options utilizing new technology including new lens designs with specialized applications for computer use, driving, athletic participation, and various hobbies.

Dr. Stromness is committed to staying abreast of the latest technology in eye health and vision care.  As a result he attends more than the required continuing education classes for licensure.  He has developed expertise in new technology and treatment options now available to assist with diagnosing and monitoring retinal eye diseases, and dry eye syndromes, as well as newly developed contact lens technology for patients who have previously been unable to wear contact lenses.

Dr. Stromness enjoys volunteering on eye-related humanitarian trips with The Hope Alliance which provides eye care to underserved countries such as Guatemala, Peru, and Haiti.

Interests outside Dr. Stromness' professional practice include time with grandchildren, his cub scout  troop, playing basketball, Louis L'Amour books, and skiing (for which he now wears a helmet).  Ask him why!
